The Bible talks about signs in the sky prior to Christ's return. Luke 21:25 states, βAnd there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves...β In Genesis 1:14-18, And God said, βLet there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.β And it was so. And God made the two great lightsβthe greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the nightβand the stars. And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
Luke 21:11 predicts, βThere will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven.β God created our universe and uses the stars and planets for signs. For example, a star appeared in the night sky during the birth of Jesus. The Bible says the wise men followed the star to find Jesus in a manger with his mother Mary and Joseph.
Luke 21:25-26 foretells, βAnd there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken.β In the Old Testament, Joel 2:30 states, βAnd I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke.β
In Matthew 24:6-13, Jesus stated,
"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved."
As we approach the Second Coming of Christ, many signs will appear in the sky and on the earth. We are cautioned not to ignore these signs. We are to be watchful and vigilant, preparing for Jesusβ return. Many would agree that the signs of His eminent return are here and obvious. And the signs will continue to intensify as we get closer to the Lord's glorious return. Letβs not ignore them but get ready. This time He's not coming as the Lamb but as the Lion to establish the Kingdom of God on earth, forever!
KING JESUS (THE MILLENNIAL REIGN)
The Bible predicts that Jesus is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of Him. Even so, AMEN. Revelation 1:7
Man has had rule over earth since Adam & Eve but, the Bible predicts that time is almost up! God, Himself, will finally take complete control over the earth. And ALL of the World's power and wealth will belong to the righteous. Jesus will be the ruler and sovereign King.
The millennial kingdom is the title given to the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ on the earth. Some seek to interpret the 1,000 years in an allegorical manner. They understand the 1,000 years as merely a figurative way of saying βa long period of time,β not a literal, physical reign of Jesus Christ on the earth. However, six times in Revelation 20:2-7, the millennial kingdom is specifically said to be 1,000 years in length. If God wished to communicate βa long period of time,β He could have easily done so without explicitly and repeatedly mentioning an exact time frame.
The Bible tells us that when Christ returns to the earth He will establish Himself as King in Jerusalem, sitting on the throne of David (Luke 1:32β33). The unconditional covenants demand a literal, physical return of Christ to establish the kingdom. The Abrahamic Covenant promised Israel a land, a posterity and ruler, and a spiritual blessing (Genesis 12:1β3). The Palestinian Covenant promised Israel a restoration to the land and occupation of the land (Deuteronomy 30:1β10). The Davidic Covenant promised Israel a king from Davidβs line who would rule foreverβgiving the nation rest from all their enemies (2 Samuel 7:10β13).
At the Second Coming, these covenants will be fulfilled as Israel is re-gathered from the nations (Matthew 24:31), converted (Zechariah 12:10β14), and restored to the land under the rule of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The Bible speaks of the conditions during the millennium as a perfect environment physically and spiritually. It will be a time of peace (Micah 4:2β4; Isaiah 32:17β18), joy (Isaiah 61:7, 10), and comfort (Isaiah 40:1β2). The Bible also tells us that only believers will enter the millennial kingdom. Because of this, it will be a time of obedience (Jeremiah 31:33), holiness (Isaiah 35:8), truth (Isaiah 65:16), and the knowledge of God (Isaiah 11:9, Habakkuk 2:14). Christ will rule as king (Isaiah 9:3β7; 11:1β10). Nobles and governors will also rule (Isaiah 32:1; Matthew 19:28), and Jerusalem will be the political center of the world (Zechariah 8:3).
Revelation 20:2-7 gives the precise time period of the Millennial Kingdom. Even without these scriptures, there are countless others that point to a literal reign of the Messiah on the earth. The fulfillment of many of Godβs covenants and promises rests on a literal, physical, future kingdom. There is no solid basis for denying the literal interpretation of the Millennial Kingdom.
